Comedian Kumail Nanjiani has revealed the surreal moment his wife was told he was “doing it” with Michelle Obama — even though he’s never met the former first lady.
“The Big Sick” star revealed in a recent podcast that his wife, Emily Gordon, told him about the fast-spreading, false rumor he was having an affair with the former first lady, amid other rumors she was having her own marital woes with her husband, former President Michelle Obama.
“I was so excited!” the actor said of the flattering rumor.
“My friend, our mutual friend, pulled Emily aside and was like, ‘Hey, so I heard that Kumail and Michelle Obama are like doing it.’ And she was like, she wasn’t even upset, but multiple people brought it up to me,” he told comic Caleb Hearon on the “So True” podcast.
“I have never met Michelle Obama,” Nanjiani stressed.
The conversation pivoted to the Obamas, and the previously wiudely spread unfounded rumor that the former president was having a romance with “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston.
“What I’m saying is, my friend Kumail, you’re up there with Jen Aniston in terms of affair rumors,” Hearon teased the comedian.
Nanjiani joked that the Obamas were both “slumming it” with their alleged affair partners — and added he meant “no shade to Jen.”
Aniston earlier also addressed the outlandish gossip about her and Obama.
“Of all the calls you get from your publicist where you’re just like, ‘oh no, what’s it going to be?’, or the email saying, ‘some cheesy tabloid is going to make up a story’… and then it’s that.
