Yet in the following verse, 1 Corinthians 6:11, he offers hope: “And that is what some of you were. For example, Jesus said, “Out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander” (Matthew 15:19–20; see also Romans 1:24–31).
The Bible teaches that followers of Jesus are to practice sexual purity, and that includes abstaining from same-sex activity.
This invitation is universal, not conditional upon one’s past.
6. His commands are not optional, and he states clearly, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).
Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions.
Counterarguments note that the text references mutual actions and specifically addresses both males and females. Oremus suggests that Jesus’s views on homosexuality were more inclusive than Paul’s. He writes:
Even if Jesus viewed homosexuality as a sin, he had a penchant for reaching out to sinners rather than shunning them.
Kidnapping, for example. “In fact, contrary to cultural ideas about sex propounded during the first century AD, “Christianity taught that sex within a marriage should be free, generous and reciprocal.”
But God never depicted coital relationships between two men or two women in a positive way. Passages like John 3:16 show God’s love toward the whole world.
This would include same-sex activity.
Also, are we to believe that any and every action is good unless Jesus specifically forbade it? Jesus says, “come to me all you who are weary.” This is not an invitation to particular individuals who qualify on the basis of their behavior or lifestyle but to anyone who is tired (Matthew 11:28).Given the obstacles and even dangers the LGBQT+ community faces, added to the ordinary strains of life in general, one might imagine they are very weary, indeed.

Everyone was made in God’s image, but not all people embrace Christ’s message of hope, peace, love, mercy, and justice.
